Featured Staff Review: Elsewhere

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Liz Hall is fifteen. She’s looking forward to all the fun of growing up:  getting a driver’s license, enjoying dates (even if she’s only done that vicariously so far) and finding her life’s work. Her sudden death in a hit-and-run accident puts an end to her life on earth—and that’s when the story begins. While some readers might feel just as confused as Liz by her new circumstances, especially at first, Zevin create a believable, intriguing after-life in this unusual novel. As readers learn more about how things work on this island world, it turns out that being in “Elsewhere” isn’t really that different from life. There are family ties, important relationships and chances to learn and grow. Of course, the inhabitants of “Elsewhere” do age backwards from the moment of their deaths, which means that their experiences flow differently. And some of them find it very hard to let go of their previous existence.  But overall Liz manages to find some satisfaction and even some peace as she weathers the storms that lead her back to a new beginning.

Featured Teen Review: The Dvorak Album

The Dvorak Album

Yo-Yo Ma

The whole thing is amazing if any one loves music they would love this Album it is mind blowing. Deeply touching a kind of feel that really moves a person. A real keep you at the edge of your seat kinda of Album. One great thing about it is you never really know where the music is about to go. Your left guessing the whole time.
